The Swatch "BREAK FREE" activation in New York City was conceived as a high-energy tribute to the intersection of street art, hip-hop culture, and the 40th anniversary of the 1984 World Breakdance Championship. The primary reason for the event was to celebrate Keith Haring’s enduring legacy and his historical connection to Swatch, specifically reviving the spirit of the iconic poster he created for the original championship. By transforming a physical space in Lower Manhattan just steps from Haring’s original Pop Shop the event served to bridge the gap between 1980s underground culture and contemporary design, launching a collection that turned Haring's "human clocks" and breakdance figures into wearable art.

Swatch Pit-Stop
Locarno Film Festival
Activation
The Swatch activation at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival centered on the "Swatch Pit Stop," a high-concept, vintage gas station installation that served as a cinematic metaphor for the festival experience. This immersive space showcased the exclusive LOCARNO78 limited-edition watch, designed in collaboration with Wolfgang Tillmans, while integrating a gallery of recycled and hand-colored works by Swatch Art Peace Hotel residents. To ensure a seamless guest journey, the activation extended into a functional fleet of custom shuttle vehicles that transported attendees across the city, effectively bridging the gap between artistic curation and technical execution. By blending structural storytelling with large-scale graphics and logistical coordination, the event transformed a traditional sponsorship into a tangible, community-driven narrative that moved in sync with the festival.
